I have recently installed new LED lights on my 1989 defender 90. So I have brake lights which work when I press the pedal. if I have the lights on the and press the brake pedal the brake lights don't light up. Also the tail lights never light up. I have checked the wiring and it is correct also I upgraded from glass fuses the blade fuses. I checked and the fuses are fine. Does anyone know what the problem is.

Yes LED lights.
You need to make sure that 'all' positives (+) are + and that all earths are negative, especially when the switches are 'turned on' and simualtaneously activated.
Any voltage on the negative side will stop an LED from lighting, also remember that LED's act like a Zenner Diode when there is a reverse bias. Some LED 'bulbs' have this protected (hint: they tend to be the expensive ones) whereas most don't.

Last week a couple fo friends and I were chasing why the LED indicators worked on hazard but didn't on the stalk. We had a world of wired issues which traced down to one of the incandescant side repeaters not making a good contact.

Defenders came out in 1990 and thier wiring was very different, blade fuses was one of the upgrades ...
