Tail Gate problem

Just fitted a lower tail gate, and the sensor's advise tail gate open, but both tailgates are aligned and shut. It's a 96 P38. Can any one help please?

Hi I had the same problem and it turned out to be the microswitch had come in 2 so I put silicone sealant on it and problem gone
