I noticed over the weekend that one of my Swivel housings is leaking oil all over the tire. Since im going to be stripping the housing down to repair this, should i also replace most of the stuff under there? By that i mean, wheel / swivel bearings, break cylinder, and other gaskets or seals?

Also if i do one side, should i really do the other side, which as of yet is not leaking anything.

you could, but i'd wait until you strip it down, to see what needs doing... you can get a complete swivel kit from certain suplliers that include all the bits needed. as fer yer brakes if they work just tie the back plate up out the way. when you go to fill the swivels use that one shot grease rather than oil it stays in longer

cheers, yeah i was thinking of using the gease instead, take there is no difference in the protection?

You can buy CV grease from the usual accessory dealers. It's a lithium based grease containing Molybdenum Disulphide (thats what it says on the tin anyway) and about twelvety years ago it cost £3.50 for 500g.

It's the amount you put in that matters, if you put to much in you could blow your seals. Though when I thought my CV bearings were going I slapped loads in using a 50ml syringe and every thing seems OK. A while back some one on the defender bit said how much but I can't remember now.
