Hello, my Land Rover owning career now spans 4 weeks since I bought a 1975 S3.

So, as a precaution against previously bad maintenance I have given it a full lub service. Engine, gearbox, transfer box all fine, both differentials full but oil very black.

However, the swivel hubs seem to be full of grease instead of EP 80-90 oil. Is this someone cutting a corner or is it a valid alternative to using oil?

Appreciate others experience on this one.

Up to about the series 2a oil was used - may be for the series 3 in the beginning too but after a while the bits were changed to accommodate "one shot grease" as Brit Part would have it...

Many thanks Stretch, I am slowly learning about historic Landys. I'll get some more one shot and top them up.

one shot grease didnt come into latter half of the 90s

Wont it grease for UJs and oil for CVs or was it the other way round

Any road up One Shot is either thick oil or thin grease....................... That sure stopped the confusion :confused::confused::confused:
