After I changed the oil and filters in the 110 the other day, I was having a poke about and checking the swivel balls. N/S full of grease and nice and shiney . O/S grease all round the seals, no grease inside, and some scratches on the ball .
I'm thinking me might need to replace the offending ball, so I've got a couple of questions.
1 - Do you replace them as a pair, or just the knackered one?
2 - Looking on Paddocks the bits (I think) are about £70 odd quid (swivel kit), are these the right bits?
3 - How much would I be looking at roughly to get this job done at an independant garage (NOT main stealer).
4 - I'm not sure this is something I should even contemplate doing myself, bear in mind I'm quite pleased with myself after changing the oil and filters, am I right to think like this?
5 - I put a sachet of one shot grease in there to be on the safe side, which is steadily coming out, and the ball is covered in grease now. Is it alright to drive like this in the short term?(cash flow problems at the minute) I only do a few miles each way to work, and I've got another sachet of grease on standby for when ball is no longer covered in grease.
Sorry for the list of questions, I've done a search and can't find the information I'm after, I looked at busters guide, and while it looks absolutely brilliant, it did make my head hurt:doh:.
Any help would be much appreciated, cheers in advance.
