Swing away spare carrier

Hi, I am looking to install the Britpart swing away spare carrier. Unfortunately my rear door does not have any existing markings or holes, for the mount. Has anyone fitted one and could help with where to situated it? I have read the mantec thread here: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/mantec-rear-spare-wheel-carrier.396210/post-5782700 but I am not sure the plate is the same size. If anyone can help it would be very much appreciated!

You've checked youtube right? Plenty of videos on their of fitting that carrier.

All the ones I can find have existing markings from the standard cover, none that tell me where the plate needs to be positioned with no holes or markings. I don't really want to guess.

I’m sure I just put the carrier on and marked the holes for the plate centrally, then checked that the bolts would be going through the door stiffeners before drilling

I am not familiar with the britpart on specifically but is there not a strengthening plate that fits on the inside of the door? It should go in the square below the wiper motor. This then give you where to drill the holes through the frame. If there is not one included I would be looking to make one up to add a little more structure.

I think it comes with a large plate that mounts on the outside of the door skin, fitted mine a few years ago, still on there.
Even if fitted well they are a bit crap, and seem to shuffle around a bit.

Thanks for your response, no strengthening plate supplied. I will see if I can find template or drawing for one somewhere online. If anyone knows where there is one, that would also be helpful.
