I have recently purchased an old SJ410 I have two questions.

1. How do I set the front hubs when driving on tarmac?

2. Are there any wreckers yards that specialise in Suziki,s?

thanks for any info Richard

The hubs should be set to unlocked when the vehicle is being used in 2wd
mode. This will disengage the wheels from the front axle and propshaft,
thereby saving wear and fuel consumption.

You should set the hubs to locked before entering 4WD. You shouldn't drive
in 4WD on tarmac (or any other grippy surface) as you will damage your
transmission.

Unlock for road use and Lock for offroad use, never use 4WD at any time other
then offroad.

Yes, depending on where you are.

I'm currently restoring an SJ410 for the girlfriend, and have found KAP in
Keighley W Yorks to be most helpful, but if you aren't near there....

A couple of months ago on here I tried (unsucessfully) to give away a
trailer load of 410 axles, diffs and other non-413 stuff. They've all been
weighed in now, I needed the space...
If you are planning on running with the free wheel hubs unlocked for any
length of time make sure that the front propshaft sliding joint is well
greased. A new prop will cost a lot more than the few pence you save in
petrol... My advice is to leave 'em locked so that you have 4 wheel drive on
demand. Better still find some original drive flanges and then sell the FW
hubs on eBay. Last year I bought a scrap SJ for £20 and got £50 on eBay for
the hubs! eBay can be quite a good source for SJ bits - stuff like
radiators, starter motors, alternators, springs, wheels & tyres etc turn up
regularly. Be warned that specialist Suzuki breakers charge specialist
prices.
