Suspension fitting argument!

Hi all, looked for info, with no avail.

CAN YOU FIT A 2" LIFT KIT WITHOUT SPRING COMPRESSORS?

i want to put a lift kit on to upgrade it from standard (new springs and shocks) my local landy man says that it is a difficult job and that you need to have a good set of compressors and it could take him up to 3 hours to do, some other guys i have spoken to say you can just jack up the chassis untill the springs are loose without using any compressors and take them out in a coupple of hours depending how rusty everything is.

please help.

you dont need to compress the springs, just lift the body - buy some new retainers while the credit card is out

just jack it up!!! well thats what i did

yep as said jack up & use a trolley jack to lift/lower Axle.

yeh i think some retainers might be a good idea, probably still original 1989 ones on there. thanks Sean.

and spray all the nuts and bolts the night b4 with wd40

It depends upon the free length of the springs....

You may find that you will have to clamp and disconnect the flexible brake hoses. Altho' if you are also fitting longer travel shocks then you should consider adding longer flexible brake hoses into the mix......at which time it would make sense to get braided hoses and change the brake fluid too.

I'm also not sure how he can be so certain about the time scale. Front shocks can be in PITA to remove. Often I find removing the whole front turret the easy solution. If you are replacing shocks to then removal can be a little more brutal
