What sort of subtle styling to people go in for?
Got a few issues to sort first, but was just flicking through the gallery to get some ideas - and wondering what stuff people do?
Don't get me wrong, I don't want 50milllion inch rims and a stereo that the next town can hear, just maybe some nice finishes. Suggestion box open (or maybe there is a website that is well known for P.38 bits?)

I like my P38. I've always liked them since they first came out. I still get a kick out of walking up to mine in a public car park and driving looking down on lesser mortals. Externally it's how it came out of the factory and I still think that it's one of the smartest vehicles on the road.

However I have seen the following done;
grill changed for a turbo one
various front bars with assorted spot lights fitted
light guards fitted front and back
headlights swapped for L322/D4 style
an ornament mounted on the bonnet
illuminated washer jets
chrome vents fitted to the front wings
windows tinted almost black
a strip across the top of the screen with something written on it
stainless tubular side steps
a shark's fin aerial on the roof
a spoiler on the rear of the roof
big bore chrome exhaust tailpipes
number plates with various illegal extras
the entire back end re-built to take L322 lights
I've even seen one re-sprayed in pearlescent paint

I've saved a couple of bob to spend on mine, I'm going to replace the brake lines and rear pads and discs. You pays your money and takes your choice.
Don't forget to keep your insurance company fully informed.

Reads like a pimp's wish-list :D:D:D

Depends on your own style; personally, if it ain't broke don't fix it kinda comes to mind....only change I made was cassette out, CD in with finishing strips, otherwise totally outa the box.

Better is save what you mightspend on bling for when it DOES go wrong!

I've got a L322 rather than P38, but there are a few subtle things you can do on either which aren't too 'pimp'. I changed my side indicators to smoked ones as I think the normal orange ones look like a horrible after-thought out of the factory. I do have chrome side pipes, but I bought it with them on. I put in door sil tread plates as the paint on mine was a bit scratched from the previous owner - its suprising how much of a difference it makes, just looks a lot newer when getting in and not seeing scratches! I did add a SS exhaust system, but mostly because I wanted to beef up the V8 sound (ok that might be a bit nobbish, but I like it and thats what matters). I also added door handle covers, again because the last owner must have had more rings than mr T as they were scratched to hell - you can get these covers to match car paint colour so they don't have to be too outragous. At the end of the day, what you do with it is entirely your choice, people on here will all have their own opinions on what looks crap and what is good, but its you who has to look at/drive it each day!

upgrade wheels to 18 inch and lights to facelift spec after that leave it as is but each to there own

id stay well away from chrome,Theres a grey p38 down the road from me with tonnes of chrome **** on it,It looks awfull now. They have even put a sport badge on the wrong side at the back lol.i used to be jealous of that p38 as it looked the dogs without any chrome now i lmao everytime i see it.

agree with dogsbody and clarkie ^^. maybe colour code the bumpers but depends a lot on the main paint scheme, see my post here. on the black one the owner upgraded the fog lights to round HID spots behind a clear lens. nice update i think but that's about as far as i'd suggest going.

The best looking ones are the high spec hse with al the FACTORY extras. Anything else just looks tacky. Even worse are the idiots that go and put styling kits ie; pimp my ride style front bumpers and body kits on the sports. They are good enough looking with out being fiddled

I have a Java black 2001 Vogue. Previous owner had added dark tinted windows to the rear so I have left them as is. Car had Hurricane wheels when I first bought it however I prefer the triple sport wheels so it now has a set of those which I had powder coated anthracite (Dark grey). Only other visible modification is a Janspeed SS exhaust. On the inside I have had an iPod jack fitted to the factory Alpine head unit. Also fitted a LR phone cradle pod to mount my iPod cradle on. This is covered in black leather and mounts to the right of the centre console using existing screw holes. Also changed the wood gear shift leaver for a light-stone leather one. For me a gear leaver has to be leather.
All other mods are mechanical.
Only other thing I’d do would be to colour code bumpers and grille. I think the P38 looks its best totally stock. Personally I think the front is very hansom and needs no changes. As my car is a facelift version I already have the white indicators and headlights with the black inserts. I agree with others here that these lights make a subtle positive change. I take the view with modifications that they have to be reversible should I decide in the future that I want to go back to stock.
LW…..
