Hi there

Wonder if someone could help me with this question please on a 2002 TD5 110 CSW.

I replaced the needle bearing and oil seal in one of my front stub axles last week. When I put the new ones in, I drifted in the oil seal as far as it would go.... then carefully did the needle bearing. I noticed that there was about a 0.75cm gap between the new bearing and the seal.

Didn't pay it too much attention at the time... but now I'm doing the other stub axle I noticed that the bearing and the seal are flush with each other.... so when I did the first one I must have drifted the seal "too deep".

Does it matter?

Cheers

I've just replaced my stub axles (1996 90) I replaced the seals and bearings to suite the original set up. Seal tapped down to the shoulder inside the stub axle. Bearing tapped in so it was flush with the outer face of the stub axle. This left a gap between the seal and the bearing. I didn't measure it, but it would be about 7mm I reckon.
