Stripped thread in cylinder head 300tdi

One of the studs that holds down the rocker assembly has stripped the thread inside the cylinder head. As a result I get a really irritating ticking when I'm driving that's relative to speed and revs. Any ideas on how I can repair it? I can't even thread the stud back in as the original thread seems to be completely gone so there's no chance of retapping it. At the moment I'm waiting on some epoxy setting to hold the stud in as I need my motor to go pick up something big today but I need a permanent fix. Any ideas?

Helicoil, kits on ebay cheap enough.

I've cleared the epoxy out and removed the rocker assembly and retapped it. It seems OK so I've stuck the stud back in with some thread lock and I'll leave it for bit. Hopefully that'll sort it

Same happened on my 200tdi many yrs ago, helicoil was easy to do.
I should imagine there is a lot of stress on those studs as the pushrods are compressing the valve springs which take some doing.

Well I had hoped there was enough meat to rethread but I don't think there was. Broke down on the way somewhere as the stud pretty much worked its way out but I sorted it and it got me there and back although I think a Helicoil kit will need to be acquired to fix it properly

I helicoiled some threads on my 200tdi timing case yesterday, only cheapies from ebay (under a tennner whole kit) went well and took minutes, in fact thats a lie it took less than a minute per hole, use supplied drill bit and drill to depth of hole (basically just clearing out old threads) use insert tool and insert helicoil until half a turn under the face of the hole, snap off the tang with supplied tool, job done.

One of them silly things people worry about, then once they have done one its oh is that it?
