Strange noise when decelerating

My 200tdi has started to make an odd noisy when decelerating. It's a grating turning noise that started off quietly but is now quite noticeable. The noise stops if I press the clutch whilst continuing to decelerate.

Any ideas?

the nut in the centre of the flange 4 ya rear propshaft at the hand brake drum?? park on a level surface with no torque on the propshaft, out of gear and handbrake off, get under there and wriggle the drum around. pretty common here if yer landy lives off-road
