i think i may have made some progress with the lack of power..

if i remove snorkel top and block the top opening the engine wont stall. all the snorkel hoses and turbo to air filter suck in but there is a squeeling noise..

so i removed air filter housing so i could get to the intercooler hoses..
the bottom intercooler hose has the rubber elbow and when you block the snorkel the intercooler elbow sucks right in but it squeels like a noise a balloon makes when you pinch the ends and let the air out.

ive removed this elbow but it doesnt seem damaged but it is very very soft...
..

i also took the 90 for a drive and disconnected the hose from the air filter to the turbo and it went like ****t of a stick

it also seems strange but my 90 runnin temp is generally sitting at the end of the white section on the dial.
with the turbo pipe disconnected the temp sits just a tad over half, any idea why it does this?

..do i need to look at new hoses/and or intercooler?

by the sounds of it wilts , it sound like your air filters blocked ( all that rubbing down dust and filler perhaps !!!! .
Do you have enough ppe to by-pass the intercooler for a test run ? , if so try that with a new filter and see how it goes - if loads better then id look at the IC for holes .

with your temp reading lower with the pipes disconnected it could be that your motors been labouring for air so it gets hotter - just an idear anyway :) .

On my Disco, the hose from the air filter to the turbo looked fine, but on close inspection, the internal rubber had come loose, so when the air was sucking in, the internal walls were collapsing and restricting the air...

could it be something like that ?
