storage and battery

Hi and good morning/evening.

i am going to be buying a P38 4.6 HSE in a couple of months, but need to find 1 i like with LPG under £2000.

my main problem is going to be that i will be out of the country for upto 5 months. now i know the battery will go dead if i leave it connected, and nothing will work when i get back.

am i going to face any major issues if removing it while it is stored? will things need to be reset in order to drive it away? what is, in your opinion, the best way to do this?

If it were me, I would leave the battery connected and buy a solar panel (not less than 100ma) to keep the battery charged.

can you not buy an optimate and leave it trickeling the battery?

good idea! only the RR will be indoors

optimate could be better.

but i know i will be buying 1 of those kicker lites or an emergancy kit to fit under the bonnet for the EAS.

Stick the solar panel out side and run a wire

Emergency kit for the EAS should not be needed if the EAS is in good order. The Kicker or an FCR is useful but a Nanocom is better

If you can't trickle charge the battery with it connected....

I would lower to access, disconnect the battery....

On return 5 months later, give the battery a damn good charge for 16-24 hours, connect the battery, leave the door open, start the car, reset the windows and sunroof, wait 20 minutes for the EAS Compressor to top up that tank if any pressure has been lost ober 5 months, close the door and select Standard ride height....

The ECU's will not know anything has changed if the battery has been disconnected and reconnected.....and the battery is strong.

I would opt for lowering to access, as if left in standard for so long, the car will drop to the bumps anyway....so leaving it in access means that when you 'wake' the car up again, the EAS ECU won't moan and complain to mouch about the current position being to far from the previous set position....

Just my two penneth worth

I would plumb for the optimate, keeps the battery in good nick and no messing about reseting windows/sunroof etc.

If it's in a garage with power - why not just chuck a maintenance charger on and save yourself all the hassle?

thats what i am thinking of doing. not sure if it will fit in my friends garage though. i am going to hate leaving it outside

i was trying to find a way of making it difficult for someone to try and pinch it. maybe putting it on axle stands and removing the wheels and leaving the air on low, could be an option as well

i still have a few months to find 1 i like and can afford. i dont mind doing some work, just dont want to do everything lol.

Wouldn't do that if I were you....

Makes it look unloved , ripe for some pikey to pick up with a HIAB onto a lorry and off it goes.....

been looking on autotrader and ****bay to see what is out there, seen some nice 1's for under 3 grand, only a few with LPG conversions done, but not sure if to have the 4.0 or the 4.6

and what colour to have.

4.6, practically nothing in the fuel consumption but a lot more grunt.

go black looks well nice with tinted windows and 18" huracanes if its lpg its got to be the 4.6! enough power to drag the house down the street

i was thinking black, or BRG

wife likes the dark metallic blue as well. cant stand the tan interior, sorry if anybody has it.

although best suited to batteries of capacity up to about 75Ah. For larger batteries, one of the AccuMate PRO models would be better suited.

yea i got the tan leather

thats why i also got blacked out windows

i know there ilegal but the old bill up heer dont seem to mind unless your driving like a ****
