Police are urging Land Rover owners to be on the lookout for suspicious behaviour after thieves removed the doors and bonnet from a Defender.

The white 4x4 was parked on a driveway in Grindleford, in the Hope Valley, when it was stripped of four doors and the bonnet.

Items including a Bosch cordless drill and a Nighstalker head torch were also taken from the vehicle during the incident, which took place between 11.30pm on Friday, March 29 and 9am the following morning.

It follows a similar incident that took place in Longlands, Repton the same night, in which a Land Rover Defender had two doors and a window removed.

Land Rovers are often targeted because their parts can be sold on and retain their value.

Police are urging members of the public to be on the lookout for anyone selling spare Land Rover doors, bonnets and other parts and to report any suspicious behaviour by calling 101.

Officers are also reminding Land Rover owners to spruce up the security of their vehicles by taking steps such as parking in a well-lit area or in a secure garage, where possible, and investing in property marking kits such as Selecta DNA.

To report any suspicious behaviour or crimes, call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. In an emergency, always call 999.
