Stolen in south kensington

My Range Rover, 4.4 Vogue stolen exactly one month ago. This week I have heard of five other RR thefts, all in South Ken., Chelsea, And Nottinghill.
Whats going on? The insurance investigator described thefts of RR now "on an industrial scale". Why can't police catch these guys?
Is there any way to find out if your stolen car registration turns up in Europe later?

It's been well covered in the press recently. They're usually knicked to order by some Herbert with a laptop, blank key and ODB cable. Then popped in a shipping container and sent to Europe. New identity and they're away. Slim to no chance of ever being able to track it down, even with trackers installed.
