Pulled 'down' the wheel on my '96 P38 yesterday to get in to the crevasses to clean, when I set it back to the original position, I find it won't lock, it seems to loosely 'ratchet' when going up & down, but even with the adjusting lever right back, it still will not lock, so at the moment I have a 'wobbly' wheel!!
Tried every which way, but its a no-go, any ideas??

Can you feel resistance when you pull the handle towards the wheel?? Suggest you take the steering wheel cowl off and have a look inside. The adjusting lever just unscrews from the release mechanism hidden under the cowl and you will need to remove the lever to allow cowl removal. Maybe a spring has become dislodged or broken.
