Hi peeps,

Tried searching for this but no one seems to have quite covered what I'm looking for (not that I can find anyway).

Currently in the process of reworking my centre console, it used to look like this:

Thing is I don't like the MUD console (its really plasticy) plus whoever installed it before managed to position the CB so that when the handset is plugged in you smash the gearstick/fingers on the socket in 3rd and 5th gear and with the CB socket out an over vigorous change into 5th gear and knuckles hit the fuel pump cut off switch which makes things interesting on the motorway slip road!

So anyways I've ripped it all out, going to remount the CB down by my knees out of sight and out the way.

So I just need a home for the stereo and a couple of switches. has anyone got any innovative ideas for a simple console type thingy (I'd like to DIY something), the raptor dash is ok but far too expensive, as i said the MUD dash is just a bit flimsy and crap imho and i don't just want a ply box as that'll look naff. I toyed with the idea of a ceiling mount but as I have a very leaked sunroof it doesn't seem to wise!

Also got to get something to cover up where the dash bars have all been chopped up to fit the MUD console

All ideas gratefully received!

vilguy - you can have the MUD console gratis as far as I'm concerned. No use to me!
Still got to pull the metal frame bit out of the car, will probably be doing it this weekend. - will pm you once I've got it all out.

Raptor is an future option but £££! and it doesn't it stick out a fair bit too? - anyone had any issues with gearstick/raptor interface? plus I would then have to go out and buy a shed load of switches and things to switch with them which my wallet won't like!

I think the raptor looks much better, plus if you want a redesign in the future, you can just replace the panels.
I got my cb by me knees, fits nicely infront of the handbrake, doesnt get in the way, and mine aint a new slim jobbie either...

You can buy em with lots of different panels - even ones with no cut outs in em.

I've no problem with the dash and my R380 ;)

I like this.. But eventually intend to build something like the td5 dash with space for some speakers either side of the stereo if possible...

Above item is from a French company www.acc16.com

I fitted the TD5 dash and had Phil Raptor make a new cover for my needs. Although I wish I'd included the clock.

Another vote for the raptor, it's worth the extra few quid all day long, it's solid, loads of room for extras and it looks the part, you keep enough standard dash as well for cubby space...

that ACC16 dash looks interesting, might try fabricating something inspired by that and the raptor together. Might even tryand find a place to put a tablet mount for big OS map GPS and plenty of music...
