Might have purchased a wood/leather steering wheel for my dhse. In the past I've stripped my wheel down to refurb the buttons but after removing the big nut I couldn't get the wheel off the splines. I then realised that the wheel hasn't got to come off to do the buttons so I put the nut back on . I'm going to have to remove the wheel from the scrapper and mine, obviously, so was wondering if something else is holding it on other than the big nut?
If not, how's best to get it off?
Probably a puller which I don't own!

A bit of shaking about and a good pull got both the good one off my scrapper and the knackered one off the project car.

That works on my Defender but was fruitless on the 38 but.....I didn't persevere I admit, after spotting it wasn't necessary for a button decal refurb.
If I do manage to get this wood wheel it's going to need a full refurb and the leather dyed from lightstone to black, never done anything like that before but I'll do a separate post for advice for that, looking forward to it tbh. :vb-weee:

I've heard of a thing called a clockspring? Where is that located? Is it worth trying to get that off for a spare whilst grabbing the wood wheel?

The clock if offered is worth having and dry storing. 👍
It's something that rarely breaks but would cost if you had to buy one😜
Yeah, they are expensive for what is basically a coil of ribbon cable, I had to replace mine £138+vat at the time, I think they're over £200 now, never seen one second hand though, it had a piece of tape on it that had printed on it "do Not remove until installed", I remember thinking once it's removed maybe it uncoils inside and, can't be opened to rewind it.
