I'm rebuilding after my bulkhead change out. 88' Defender
The bolt holes in my footwell for the steering wheel bracket were not on the new bulkhead, so I had to drill new ones. I matched them up the best I could form the photos I had and it looked about right.

However, I have just put the dash back in and I feel like the steering column is too far towards the center of the car, but I don't really have a frame of reference as I have no seats in either!

Can anybody help?
- when in the seat, does the steering column sit in the center of the dash display?
- Would it be possible to take a measurement from the center of the wheel to.... the door?
- is there any details of the correct location of the steering column? I see all the brackets have slotted holes and the workshop manual says to loose fit prior to fit up, so I assumed it would just find its own center....which it pretty much did.

I.e. looking at google images, this steering wheel doesn't seem to sit in the center of this dash....which reassures me a little... but it may be perspective as other photos look central.
