I have a problem on my S-10 Blazer 4x4. The steering pulls.

It pulls gently to the left when accellerating or cruising, then when I hit
the brakes it jerks to the right suddenly and then doesn't pull any more.

I have listened for noise from all this, and there isn't any that I can
tell.

Does anybody have any clues as to what I should look at first?

The above may not (yet) represent the opinions of my employer.

You are describing a broken or loose part.

If you have solid axles and leaf springs, I would be looking at the
spring u-bolts for signs one axle is slipping. I also would be looking
close at the spring bushings.

A totally worn out ball joint can act like that just before the wheel
falls off. Looking at it from the front, are either front wheel tilted
in or out at the top? That is a sign of ball joint or wheel bearing
failure.

How about the front track bar bushings if you have track bars? Same
thing, a split bushing can act like that.

It is 'not' a safe thing to have happening....

dann, my nissan 88 does the same thing after having those guys at
goodyear puting new tires on the fronts and do the alignment, it
didn't happen before.
I must bring it back to them now.

Do you have extended spring shackles? My Scout behaves the same way,
and my reasoning is that the extended shackles decreased the camber on
the front wheels. I'm sure it's not the bushings because I noticed
the same effect both before and after I installed new urethane
bushings. Of course, I could be totally wrong about it, too.
