steering column joint

The slider on the landrover 1 allows for bulkhead movement. The other (Ali) one is designed for disco/Range Rover classic. And don’t slide.

What’s wrong with the 1 you have? You can change the UJs, knock the whole shaft apart & clean it up. Just don’t paint the splines

looks like the one I have.. but https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234744829658

has the same part no of QME500031, which looks like these ones now work for them all up to TD5 ??

Will you just replace the joints or the whole caboodle ?
 
well the one i have now is f*cked so i want to just replace it all

See sitting in traffic jogs my memory…
Now was that earlier defender shaft made to miss the turbo on early left hand drive LRs?
(That’s also why there are 2 flats in the turbo intake hose for the shaft to miss)

New versions have bigger/longer UJ.will need to remove all bolts to allow shafts to slide on splines if you do swap over.
Splines on boxes & columns are the same for all years

Yeah that's what i was under the impression of - i was thinking in my head are all the splines the same count because the steering columns for the steering wheel are different..

Going to recon my just gone steering box so will hopefully go smooth :vb-eyes:
