Hi all, i am going to change the steering box on my 96 disco as soon as i get one, as it has got a leak, i have put additives in the fluid and it did reduce the leak a lot but it still drips, my question is the stearing feels a bit boaty and vauge, but their does not seem to be a lot of play in the steering so wile i am at the box should i change anything else? also i have been told by a mechanic that the engine has got a chain and not a belt for the timing it is a perkins 300tdi but wene i speak to others they think they are all belt driven? I dont know what it is about landrovers but it seems to be an obsesion as i am always finding things to do on it no matter how small, but i realy enjoy the disco, i would not have given many of my other cars a thought, and all of my other cars have only ever been a few yrs old, and a bit better looking:)

regards john

Not sure about the "Perkins" addition there?? The Landrover 300Tdi is a belt driven engine, I know this cos the front of mine (also a 96 300Tdi Disco) is apart just now ready for a new belt and one new push rod!!
