Hi. Is it possible to overhaul a power steering box to take the play out? Mine isnt leaking but seems to have a lot of play in it. Tried tightening grub screw on top down but this only made steering stiff. Disco wants to wander around the road when going in a straight line.

Then it may be something elase such as play in swivel barings or knacked trak rod ends
And yes you can take it off and refurb it

You can get refurb kits cheaply. Just make sure it is a decent brand so you don't waste your time!

adjust the box while steering is dead center and feel the removal on input shaft by rocking by hand only adjust enough till freeplay gone
