can some one offer any advice on how to compress the spring in a steering relay so as to get the bushes into it again would have chaged the whole thing but relay wouldnt come out of cross member

two flat pieces of metal and a good g-clamp or long nut and bolt with loads of thread and two large washer's or metal with holes then tighten

It was a long time ago,but I think 2 jubilee clips and 4inch nail did the trick.
