Hi All,

I have a 98 Disco 3.9ltr V8i Automatic, I come to start her up on Sunday to go and do some shopping and it wouldn't start, so I went through the fault finder in my Haynes manual and on the rave cd and in the end a good squirt of wd40 around the dizzy cap and coil solved the problem which indicated the electrics was getting damp.

I come to starg it this morning and the same thing happened only after the second attempt of turning the key she fired up.

So is it damp on the electrics (dizzy cap, coil, fuses) or is there something else going on?

If anyone has any clues please let me know, I am going to go out later and clean the HT lead connections just incase you never know.

thanks very much

John

stick a set of plugs in it and a good set of leads {magnecor}or similar.i have had to change a few set over the past few weeks on customers cars

I wudnt waste my money on expensive leads... use standard

I have a question on changing the leads, I know they have to go in order for the firing sequence from the dizzy cap to the plugs, but does it matter which way round the leads go or is it the same element on each end of the lead.

Thanks

John

Never bort any before but it dont seem that bad, i gotta get leads for me p38 tho

My dad has got a P38 I think its a 2000 plate, I think he wishes he stuck with the Discovery, he says the P38 makes too many strange noises, although he does like the air suspension, how do you get on with yours.

This one seems great, up and down within seconds dunno how long it'll last, the other 2 worked great when they felt like it

To be fair, he has never had any serious problems with it, I know his airline burst for the air suspension when his exshaust pipe was blowing but thats about it, its just the noises from the compreser and other components he doesnt like.

He has let me drive it a couple of times and the 4.6ltr engine makes a huge difference to how smooth the ride is compared to my 3.9ltr Disco.

He keeps saying he is going to sell it but I think deep down he will have it for a good couple of years yet. Its very much a love hate relationship he has with it.
