Hi all,

I have a 1999 P38 DSE with a BMW 2.5 engine.
The Rangie starts fine on the first turn of the key from cold using the glow plugs but the problem is that after the first cold start and the engine has warmed up it becomes a bit of a sod,
It always starts and has never let me down but it can take from between 5 / 10 seconds to fire up and start.

I have tried a "fix" from ebay but guess what......it doesn't work!

Anyway if anyone has any ideas that would be great,

Cheers,
Kev.

Cheers, It sounds very much like the same fix as i got from ebay, I think basiclly its trying to trick the glow plugs into coming on every time, cold engine or not & unless the independant landy specialist fitted it wrong, it just dosen't work.
Im guessing this is a common fault with the BMW engine then?

Thanks,
Kev.

It seems to work for a lot pf people, so don't discount it so easy, a lot of mechanics poo poo, the idea of this fix because they don't understand it, the ONLY problem i have with the fix is its always on, and i don't like that, im trying to get a auto timer so it switches it off after 15 seconds, i have one but i don't know what the pins are, and until i do i wont use it

you now have all the info you need to check his work, don't take it as gospel that he fitted it right check it yourself

Cheers Dopey,
Yes you are right, as the old saying goes "If you want something doing right....Do it yourself" I am completly capable of installing it myself but just couldnt be arsed and was just being lazy, I will check the installation myself and in the mean time if you do find a timer please let me know as that sounds like a brilliant idea.

Thanks again,

Kev.
