Hey everyone. Quite new to the world of Land Rovers and to this site, and i'm now in need of a bit of help. I'm having problems starting my 96 300Tdi Discovery. Sometimes when i start her up she's fine, other times when i try and turn the engine over nothing happens. I can hear a faint 'clicking' noise coming from the passengers footwell. The battery is fine. I've read a little bit on line before about a problem with the 'spider' (I think that it was called that). What you guys recon, that or the starter motor? I know it's nearly impossible to fault find over the internet but i could really do with getting it back on the road. Any help you guys can give will be gratefully received Mani

Have a quick look to make sure that the battery connections are tight,
I once had a car with exactly the same symptoms, some times it started and some times it didn't, cut along story short tightened both connections, it was spot on every time after that. One connection hardly went in, the other went bout 1/2 turn, so it wasn't loose enough to pull off or owt, just loose enough not to make a decent connection.
