Freelander 1 Starting issue 2.0 TD 2001

I have developed an intermittent fault with my Freelander . Every now and then ( about once every few weeks) it just won't catch when I start it . It turns over and over and then just when I think it is going to catch I try and put my foot on the throttle and it just dies . Its not stalling and there is more than enough juice in the battery . I feel like it is something basic that I am missing any ideas please oh great landyzone Gods and idols
