Starter Motor?

Hi all, I recently had a new starter motor fitted to my 200tdi 90 and since I've had it fitted I've been through a few fords, nothing major with regards to wading just going fast through some shallow fords.

Then yesterday after not starting her for a week she wouldn't start just a single clunk when I turned the key, so this tells me that the starter motor is up the shoot again. I have since took the landy back to the garage where the starter motor was fitted for them to have a look at it and hopefully repair it.

Has anyone had this sort of problem due to going through water or should it still be working after only a few weeks of being replaced?

PS I'm wondering whether it was replaced for a brand new one in the first place!

Sure its not the battery dead?

No it's defo not the battery cuz after I rocked her in gear it freed up the starter motor and started on the switch of the key.
