Evening,

Trying to start the landy this evening and all i get it sparks off the connection on the top of the starter and a loud grinding noise.

I presume the thing is completely shagged and needs replacing?

Its only 10 months old ( Britpart i think )

thanks

Sounds like the solenoid is shorting. If under guarantee you'll probably have to send it back and wait while they decide if it's a manufacturing fault which is ok if you don't need it in a hurry.

Easy enough to remove and pull apart if you want to have a peer inside

10 month old so i'm pretty sure it's still under warranty, will sort out sending it back tomorrow!

I've ordered another one which will be with me by the weekend, managed to scrounge a lift into work for the next few days!
