Despite being a confirmed RR Classic enthusiast I've always had a soft spot for the Stage one & browsing a website I came across reference to 'homokinetic half-shafts' in the rear axle.
Is the author unable to spell or taking the p... ?

"special" front props on the Stage one too, with a double cardan joint. Jolly expensive, IIRC. I bought new UJ's to install in mine, but couldn't get the old ones out, no matter how much I battered them. The other end of the front prop used standard UJs.

Yes without doubt the most interesting vehicle land rover made in decent numbers. The colour choice was very cool too! A csw stage 1 is my little dream that one day will become a reality, at least after I have paid for this house in 30 yrs time......

+1 prior to my first RRC ownership in '01 I'd owned no fewer that seven series from S1 to S3 & always hankered for a Stage one CSW. Sadly now that I can afford a good one, I'm afraid at my age the lack of coils, PAS, auto-box, proper windows, good heater ....... (how long have you got?) wouldn't suit me, or my joints, anymore. 'Oh well, back to drooling over images - thanks for the replies folks.
