OK, I've had my TD5 Disco 2 for a couple of weeks now and I love her, however, I noticed there was a squeaking noise from the engine on tick over.
So, I used a trick I know about from having a rice burning Nissan Navara to get rid of the squeak, ie, squirt them with WD40
All good squeak disappeared happy bunny, well I was 'til I got a couple of miles down the road now they squeak all the time and not just on tick over
Any ideas on what I need to do to get rid of this bloody annoying noise?
Thanks in advance for all your tips and advice

Might try some 10w40 would last longer. WD 40 dosen't last long

I think you could both be onto something
Change of belts it is then, is this a difficult job or could I expect to do it myself, I'm not too bad on the spanners

Never, ever spray any kind of lubricant on the belts, it'll make them slip (albeit quietly) even more.

Sounds like you need a serpentine new belt. It's a 5min job.

just get a new belt. not too hard just remember how it came off ! on another note i pressed chalk onto the underside of the belt while its running and stopped the squeak till a puddle (but then replaced the belt a few weeks down the line)

I had the same problem on my Disco1 300tdi. A wise old man gave me a tube fo Lucas rubber grease(no, really!) and it worked a treat on the new belt I had just put on. Maybe worth looking for........
