Hi All
I'm looking for some advice on my 1997 110 300 tdi CSW. I've just sold my beloved 1990 110 V8 CSW and bought a diesel. (never had a diesel before, and have no clue yet as to how it works or usually behaves. Damn, I miss my V8 - well except the chronic rust...) the garage Mot'd and serviced it when I bought it, and now 10 days and 600 miles later, it has started to squeak. the noise only occurs when accelerating and appears to be coming from the engine. Tried popping the bonnet and pressing the accelerator, but the noise only occurs when moving.
Should I be worried about this? anyone any suggestions?

Cheers

could be your fan belt, but also check for any signs of leaks around your turbo on the exhaust side.....had a similar prob on a TD5. pretty easy to see if it is leaking.....normaly a sort of dark grey to black discolouration on the flange.

Well, the plot thickens, the squeak is a now a high pitched whine and now occus when revving high while stationary as well as accelerating. I dug out my workshop manual and the noise appears to be coming from the EGR valve (I think this is what it is as this doesn't really appear in the engine diagrams)
Yikes, I sound like such a muppet. Anyway, this thing looks like 2 cereal bolws stuck together or a flying saucer, with a bit sticking off the top and is on the right hand side of the engine, and seems to be connected to the cooling system. I also have a load of random electrics under the middle front seat.
So, what ever this thing is, thats what is making the noise. Should I be dashing off to the garage to get it fixed? does it usually make this damn noise? Can I just ignore it? Can I fix it myself?

Cheers
