i have been told that if i fit a set of range rover classic heavy duty springs to my 90 and put the fronts on the back and the backs on the front, this will give me a 2" lift without adjusting or adding anything and the 90 will sit level.the reason for using the rr classics is apparantly that the 90 hd springs are still softer..is this right and will it work?
i would like the lift but dont want to really extend pipes or add different shocks etc..

If your lifting it 2" you don't want to have higher spring rates, you need softer if anything. A mate of mine put 2" lift springs on his with higher spring rates, great when towing a 3t JCB, but normally the body didn't even compress the springs. Off-road, they were crap, I've got loads of videos of him nearly rolling over as there is no axle articulation and constantly got stuck in the simplest of things, again due to no axle articulation.

standard suspension is plenty good enough , when you start lifting stuff up you can get all kinds of problems . unless you absolutly need to try to stick to standard springs .... a new good quality set of springs will give you a lift anyway . it's not always worth the hassle ...

problem i have at the moment is the insa turbo special track tyres 265/65/16 keep rubbing on the arches even on the tiniest of bumps and its bloody annoying i was told the only solution is to raise the body 2" but if i go for a complete kit shocks springs etc im looking at £300+ then i got to have it fitted all this to stop the tyres rubbing, thing is they are unbelievable in the mud and water, dont even compare to my 235/85/16 all terrains which didnt rub,so i dont know where to go with this one?

Reet, go for 2" lift standard rate springs (****part yella uns). You can run up to 2" lift without changing yer shockers, as they are standard rate you'll prolly only get about 1 1/2" lift. I ended up putting 20mm rubber spacers under the turret tops to give the extra lift without having to change anything, as my Machos were constantly grinding on the arches.

I got mine from Mill Services, but their website seems to have vanished

I think Mill have gone under :(

phone frogs island and get a set of terrafirma springs and shocks. i paid 225 for the full set. no need for brake lines. just 4 springs and 4 shocks all better than ****part. you can even choose your spring rates. i went for mediums which gave 2" lift.

been offroad and they are plush, even when the 90 is empty. very suprised considering the low cost.

I put RR classic springs on my old 90 and they did lift it but i'm not sure about puttung the front on the back and rears on the front?

dont want to get into cutting the arches..seems i might have a look at the terrafirma kit,i will probably only run the insas while we have the nice wet conditions anyway, ill probably put a set of bf goodrich mud tyres on for the rest of the time,as the insas are extreme and a handfull on the road and they give a very hard ride when the mud is baked dry by our amazing british summer!!!
could it be that the original shocks and springs bearing in mind its 20 years old could have sagged a tad?
maybe replacing with new standard ones like take5 has suggested might make a difference???
