Hi all
I have a problem with the tailgate sending a message to the dashboard saying that the tailgate is open. When I get out and check it is fine. So I removed the cover to the lower inner taigate to find the switch. Once removed I tried to find out what was wrong. I have found that over the years the switch has had a lot of water getting in to the switch inners allowig the inner spring to rust and break up. I have been into Land Rover dealer but I would have to buy complete switch so will spend some time finding a spring to match. Any body else had this problem before I start my search??????

Thanks Craig

I have to say I'd probably replace the whole switch because knowing my luck after replacing the spring either I'd find out its something else or the whole switch would go!

How much is the switch anyway?

Hi
the switch is only forty quid but everything inside ie connections are fine so a spring for 50p sounds like a better bet to me. I would replace the switch if connection were corroded but there not so why give LR the money for it. The switch is made to be taken apart so don't know why you can't buy the spring on its own, only that LR would not be getting £40 :D
