I want to either get a gloss or if i'm feeling brave a matt black finish, I
was wondering what the most cost efficient types of paint there
are and their prices per litre. I already have a friend who has access to a
high grade spray system so I just really need to know what the average
prices are before I start inquiring at specialists so I can recognise a good
price.

Cheers!

Perhaps you would like to contact my e-mail address (remove the spam), this
is my area of expertise, but I wouldn't want to bore the rest of the group
and/or shamelessly promote any business interests.

Hello Pw,

Speaking for myself I'd not mind you incidentally promoting your
business interest if the information given were useful to put in the
back of my mind for when I need it.

There have been a couple of people over the years who have done a fair
amount of promotion but have given good 'free' value in the process -
Dave at Llama springs to mind.

Paint is something I'd like to know more about - would like to get
past the spray can stage or daubing on Hammerite - and I'd happily sit
at your electronic feet to listen. I'm grown up enough to go out to
put the kettle on during the commercials if need be!

What do others think? After all the kinds of vehicle and use we are
into makes paint a major issue!

Ok at this stage your choices of paint types are very wide, and in simple
terms you get what you pay for. We can supply you with a vast range
including any of the following for starters: Synthetic Enamels, Coach
Enamels, Cellulose, 2pk Acrylics, or a Basecoat System and of course endless
amount of primers and etch's if required.

If you are going to be brushing you are better off with the first two
options, however for a better quality and perhaps longer lasting finish (I.e
better UV resistance etc..) you are much better of with the later.

You suggest that you are after a black finish either in a gloss or matt, my
personal preference would be a black gloss (or even metallic), and in
answering you question regarding cost effectiveness I would go for something
like a Two Pack Acrylic (Or basecoat system for the metallic). I won't go
into much detail about prices however feel free to contact my e-mail and I
will give you a rough idea of what you should be charged if you decide to
have a shop around.

My immediate advice would be certainly to go down the route of having
someone do the work for you professionally and in your case this appears to
be ok as you suggest your friend has paint spraying facilities.

Hope this helps feel free to quiz me further as this brief run down doesn't
really give you much detail.

Best Regards
Pw
