I've seen a cheap defender on gumtree if anyone is interested.

I'll bet the chassis is like Swiss cheese or the engine has self destructed from what I've heard about the DT

what engine have you assumed it's got fitted ?

Ah, i assumed it was a diesel turbo (as per the description), but i may well be wrong. I don't actually know what year they stopped fitting them in preference to the 200tdi?

Well 1987 I thought it went to tdi. Could be just the owner isnt that knowledgeable after all it is td but with and intercooler......erm kinda

1990 TDi was fitted to defenders Same year that disco's came out. and 90's & 110's actually became defenders.

Yep. If ya lucky might even be an early early early 300tdi cos they came out in 94..

Mines a 94 L reg with a 300tdi, I'm told that was when they changed so could be either 200 or 300.

could be well worth a punt at that price even knock them a lil bit down. even with welding a good starting point for a project, lord if only that had come up when i got mine !!

Mines a '94 on an "L" and it's a 300tdi

It will say on log book turbo derv if it's 200 tdi an it says tdi if it's 300

With no mot its always a punt in the dark unless u go see it and you know what your looking for, but at that price its worth the gamble, could always spend 1250 quid on a brand new galvanised chassis and rebuild, you could spend 2500-3000 and have a quality land rover, the body works solid so proberly closer to 2500, if you got the space go for it!

One owner from new says farmer , cow **** rots steel pretty good plus it'll have been used off road a lot, but it's cheap, if it was nearer I'd go and have a look
