Who said, in not so many words as to incriminate himself, to steer away from diesels as much less aggro.

I am therefore contemplating a 5 litre Supercharged 2010 year with 60k on the clock

Does anyone own one? I am assuming realtime MPG for London to be 15mpg

There's good and bad in both flavours .
But I can't imagine myself taking any notice of what a salesman tells me about anything .
Although anything with a 5l supercharged engine can only make you giggle
 
Sure you haven't got the decimal point a couple of positions too far to the right on your mpg estimate?
 
As the owner of a 4.2 supercharged I can only say that it is by far and away the best car I have ever owned. It is supremely quiet and refined and the power delivery is quite astonishing. The brakes being massive Brembo items haul the car up with no drama from any speed. My car has now done 130k and needed a gearbox overhaul when I bought it and other than regular items brake pads, tyres and a new battery has been fantastically reliable. Fuel consumption is an issue, the wife drives it everyday to school about 2 miles each way and we get 15mpg. Driving around France last summer averaged 24mpg. We change the oil every 6000 miles and the engine still sounds magnificent. I expect we will change the car next year if funds allow and a 5.0 supercharged will be top of my list. Diesel is dead.

I’ve been doing 10k+ a year for 17 years but now that’s all come to an end. I will probably, at a push, do 10 miles a day with maybe 2 days a week without any driving so it makes sense to buy a supercharged
 
Friend of mine recently sold his 4.2 supercharged. Spent a lot of money on it in the time he had it - he's a bit of a car nut, runs his cars through his business & no expense spared.
Could easily get into single figures without a lot of effort when pushing on & town driving was very low double figures. Best consumption he got was on distance cruising.
 
:( When I were a lad I used to walk that far to my school, all the year round up to the age of 11.

I'm sure you did norseman as did I back in the 70s, but as my wife is the Head Teacher it is probably not practical to walk with 3 classes of marked books, a laminator, and laptop under your arm.

5 litres and a supercharger sounds great, but I have a round trip of 35 miles to work. It's expensive enough in the Defender!

'Ah I see, I assumed you were referring simply to the infamous school run, my apologises.
