split charge system

ok have decided to go down the split charge route for my warn winch.my mate who owns a towbar company is going to install it for me,he has suggested a 70 amp split charge relay and a battery isolator switch,the question is can i mount the second battery next to the original battery?has anyone done this and what battery did they use? whats the best way to secure it?
and final question
i now have nowhere to put my front number plate as it wont fit on the winch bumper,are stick on plates on the bonnet legal?
or wheres the best place to put it so it will pass an mot...thanks

you'd be better off with a 100A relay.
mine passed MOT with the number plate on the N/S ventilation flap, but I had to tell the tester that it had been there since before 2001.

I had my numberplate across the grille, above the winch, for ages. it was secured with some cable ties. i only moved it to the flap because I run without a fan and I was worried about lack of air-flow through the rad in hot weather.

Erm sticky number plates are not legal, but the chances of being done for it are remote. Mine are cable tied to the grill also, and I have never had an overhead. Except when the block cracked.

Technically, number plates must be:
Substantially vertical, and mounted on or very near to the front of the vehicle.

Oo also, you can get VW camper van split charges cheap, I know a friend who is in the process of fitting one, but I have no idea of their current rating.

if it's got anything to do with a VW it'll cost a bomb and wont last long

if yu is sneaky, yu can have the number plate attached at the top with cable ties, then when yu is travelling along, it folds back up out of the way.

I thort I answered yo two batts in the batt compartment Q before?

not quite , but a couple of the '40 guys do it. gorra low powred spring to keep it upright, but airflow flattens it

i suspect how much discount you get depends what side of the bed he gets out of - i've had 20% off a few of those x-stat things but seeing as you can buy what looks like the same item on ebay for a tenner i'm not supprised he gave so much
