Here's an idea, learn how to use proper capitalisation and punctuation so that you can demonstrate some bloody respect for us and this forum. We aren't answering machines, we're far more inclined to help if you ask nice. And a short intro wouldn't go amiss either.

Hi Folks,

My Freelander has just started doing that, ignition on and speedo needle shoots right round as far as it will go???? Presumably some pre check thingy..but what & if is it still checking as it's been like it for two days now..

Any ideas folks, except of course those answers we've had???

Oh Great, here we go with 'mending' again..but thanks.

Anyone know if it's a simple enough straight swap with a secondhand complete cluster of the clocks?? They are cheap enough on THAT auction site I see??

Thank You,

Hi & Thanks,
we're on an X Reg TD4, my concerns are if I have to be worried about electronics/resetting etc, I guess the actual mileage will be different too, or will that be another reason to plug it into a computer..seems too easy to literally be a straight swap, or am I just being negative toward modern electronics.....

Hi Mate, AFAIK mileage is stored in the ECU and the speedo is just a display to what is stored and will display your actual mileage. However, I stand to be corrected as it is what I have read not experienced ***touch wood***

Hi Mate,

That 'seems' logical...although I see one for sale with 73000 on the clock, I guess that was what that cars mileage showed before he stripped it though.

I'll take the gamble and all being well attempt it at the weekend..then let you know what happens!!
Thanks again all,
