Afternoon all,

New speedo cable was on the cards today, but the square hole in the speedo drive is no longer square.

I attempted to remove the drive unit, but one of the screws fouls the intermediate shaft end before it fully comes out.

It looks as though the shaft should be positioned so the chamfered edge allows the screw to come out, but I don't want to attempt to remove and fiddle with the shaft as it is.

Any suggestions?

Tap the shaft around you can actually pull it out a fair way befor anything will drop off inside.
Took this pic awhile ago to show how far you could pull out to change the O ring on the shaft.
The intermediate gear will be close fitting to the thrust washer so should not allow it to drop plus it has tangs on it.

Perfect, thanks for the photos. I'll attempt to slide it out and give it a spin.
