hi all

I'm fitting a discovery transfer box (lt230 I think ) to a defender 200/300tdi hybrid. The transfer box is electrical, I've removed the sensor and left with the square peg were the speedo cable should slot in. The cable square seems slightly big to fit in, is this normal and if that's the case what do I do? Am I able to either file down the end of new cable to slot in or what I don't wanna do and take out drive gear. If so what colour gear do I go for (265, 75, r16 tyres)

Many thanks

Standard tyres (750x16 I think) use the blue drive spindle. If you think you need to file the end of the speedo cable to make it fit, you may have a different part to the one intended - it should fit neatly with no modification. Filing it down risks a dodgy joint which will be reflected in a jittery speedo reading or maybe none at all. If you buy a cheap pattern cable be prepared for trouble; the collars at the speedo end have an awkward "squeeze and push and turn" fitting which can be very imprecise on cheaper parts. I've just had that experience.
