Afternoon all, just a basic thread (probably pointless but may be useful) to mention my thoughts after a straight forward speaker upgrade.
I previously replaced the head unit with a Sony DAB one, this also has full Bluetooth functions including an external microphone for excellent hands free calls etc. I used a plug in splitter to convert the standard pull-up aerial to DAB and this actually works pretty well. Bonus is you can change the LED settings to green so it matches the other gauges and switches etc.
I have just swapped the two standard rear speakers for cheap Pioneer ones which were only £16 from ebay, they are a direct replacement and by changing the fade from front to rear you can hear a clear difference. Without changing the volume on the head unit the standard speakers are slightly louder, however there is definitely more clarity from the Pioneer units. I've just ordered another pair for the fronts so will report back next week!
I will also look to see if I can hide a small sub (at least a large component speaker) in the centre for a little bass as these little 10cm speakers are never going to hit the low notes!
I know plenty of people increase the size of the speakers but I was after an upgrade that still looks OEM but performs slightly better.
