spare on swing away vs bonnet

What are the pros and cons of each?

Im thinking the spare on the bonnet will be completely out of the way and the swing away is a lot of weight hanging on the rear end?

If I went with the bonnet mount, will the mount work with my Disco alloys and
265/75/16 tyres. Or what mount kit do I need? Part # would be nice.

spare on bonnet is bloody heavy. and severely reduces forwards vision. swingaway is best bet by far. as it fastens to rear crossmember and is much easier to get on and off if needed.

I put my spare wheel on the bonnet of my series -it's going back inside onto the bulkhead mount. To bloody heavy and the strian on the bonnet.
My 110 I just fitted the swing away carrier, opens with the door. It's weight is all on he chassis, capping. Not on the door. This is far superior.
Blocks a wee bit of rear view.

Had this problem in the army when 110/90's were first introduced.There must be a mod now but at the time the bonnet was too weak to handle the weight of the spare wheel.

I have my 235/85/16 spare on the bonnet, and it fits easily. I have a steel rim with my winch cable wrapped around it on my back door.

I had my 265 spare on the bonnet of my 90 as the back door wasnt too good condition and I was worried it was too much weight for it. On my ex mod 110 i just keep it in the back. I do move it to the bonnet if I ever need extra room in the back but this has only been once. The 110 has had a wheel on the bonnet with squaddies jumping up and down on it for its whole life. It is dented from it but adds to the character. Ive got a new bonnet to fit when i spray the 110. Ill be mounting the wheel mount on it.

The lugs look a little short.

Its now mounted to the side of the vehicle which necessitated the drivers door mirror being extended by about 3 inches. All wolfs still come equipt with a bonnet mount bracket

I had a spare on the bonnet of a previous 110. Seeing around it was fine but when you had to lift the bonnet it was bloody heavy

A friend had his on the bonnet until we were working on his engine one day and the leg holding it up somehow slipped off the peg and the bonnet came crashing down.....luckily we were both standing away but moments before we had both had our heads in the way. He moved it after that and we were both happy to be alive.

the mod kept the bonnet mount for use when air transporting wagons
