My mate has just whatsapped me to say he has bought replacement discs and calipers for the front of his 60 plate defender 90 van back. He's bought solid discs and calipers to match. They are due to arrive tomorrow. He's just realised the fronts are vented discs.
Will he be ok fitting the solid discs? Why were they fitted with vented discs? I thought they were more of an aftermarket upgrade. At least for the age of of Landy I'm used to!
Will he need to send them back?
cheers.

Yes, vented front discs were a standard fitment on 110s from about 1993, and for 90s shortly afterwards, but I can't remember the year exactly. I believe the bolt spacing and offsets are the same so in theory they could be fitted but I'm sure the insurance company and VOSA would have something to say about it! Best get the correct parts instead.

Send them back IMHO.

Thanks for the replies. I'll pass that on.

the difference is the spacers in the calipers to accommodate the vented disc
