It was busy telling JLR about where you have been and who with over the last 12 months.Hi guys, quick question. Have a L405 and looking to see if the software needs updating, connected to my home Wi-Fi and all it keeps saying is checking for update. I left it for 30 minutes and still hadn’t changed, am I doing something wrong?
Because they bludy things are full of computers and just like Windows, they are in constant need of updates to fix the things the software designers didn't think of.I've no comment on this one....
Question please, why would the car need to update itself?
Released at beta testing stage as is normal with m$I've no comment on this one....

The government can also stop your "connected" car running at anytime they fancy. If you drive a Chinese EV, even the Chinese government can shut your car down Madness. If it got confused I'd do what you do with any computer and switch it off and on again.
I've heard the modern cars have all their service history in the Cloud. All sorts of data gets uploaded and you can start the car over the internet. Seems a bit gimmicky to me and a waste of fuel although I can see it being nice in a Russian winter or possibly central Canada.
have you watched 'invasion day'? 10 year old, bad movie, but the idea was goodThe government can also stop your "connected" car running at anytime they fancy. If you drive a Chinese EV, even the Chinese government can shut your car down Madness.
No.have you watched 'invasion day'? 10 year old, bad movie, but the idea was good
probably the right answer.. it was poor at best
Moving towards? They are already doing it."Enemy of the State" was good. Car manufacturers are moving towards collating data on you so that they can sell it to ad agencies for extra revenue. They market it as getting to know their customers in order to improve their products.
True, just more aggressively. They did not do it as much 5-7 years ago. And then Tesla came along with all their cameras and over the air updates.Moving towards? They are already doing it.
Mazda do that. I have a 07 plate MX5 and all the service history is online. Never bothered with it as do all my own servicing and know its been done.If it got confused I'd do what you do with any computer and switch it off and on again.

Pleased my MR2 predates all this nonsense.Mazda do that. I have a 07 plate MX5 and all the service history is online. Never bothered with it as do all my own servicing and know its been done.
Its a right faff if you want to access service history. You had to register and give in my opinion to many personal details. Plus the only garages that can input the service are Mazda registered garages and not your local trusted garage. Just another way of dealers proving that they are stealers and skanking you for every pennyPleased my MR2 predates all this nonsense.
I worked in computers all my life, but to me all this "connected" stuff is a step too far. The tentacles of the state are drawing ever tighter around the general public. Its a right faff if you want to access service history.
