Soft top roof

Hello. Like most 3dr owners the sunny weather has put me in mind of fitting a folding roof. To this end I managed to get hold of cheap, a roof, two windows and one bracket for the rear quarter. Sadly the hinge part of the roof that fits to the car is broken. So I priced up a bracket, this was 50 quid, which seems a lot but it’s what it is. The hinge bit though was 110 pound which seems a very lot. It’s a small but crucial part. I’m thinking of making my own with some stainless tube and a couple of boat fittings. Has anyone repaired one of these in the past and got any tips please. Or I could look out for another broken roof that’s broke in a different place to mine
