£2500 is about the maximum i can afford to spend and it has to be a landrover of course. Hopefully there is a sprog on the way (fingers crossed) and neither the nissan micra (the missus' excuse for a car) or the series three with rear bench seats seem suitable for transportin a little one plus all the stuff that goes with. I don't want to sell the s111 so was just wondering what people would buy for £2500? Or am i going to need to sell s111 for more money for a decent somethin?

cheers! :D

So a nice defender wont do it then? suppose i need forward facing seats and stuff like that, i thought it would be fine using tie down straps in the load area, but mrs says she doesn't think that is wise! oh well i'll be looking for a decent disco in the near future then! what is the best engine to go for what would i be limited to with my budget do you think?

200tdi Disco or 200tdi RRC will cost about the same to run - not sure the maintenance will be much different either - I'd err on the side of the RRC being a bit more expensive if it breaks.

£2.5k should get you a really nice 200tdi.

Cheers,

lots of these

Mates have 2 carpet commanders. They kept their series 3. Put rear bulkhead mounted inertia seatbelt on for centre seat and inertia reels on drivers n passengers seats. Both bairns seats can now safely go in the front. A front facin rear seat went in the back for the non drivin parent. Prob cost ye a couple o hundred at the most. That leaves £2300 for slobs sannies.

didn't even think about the middle seat, its a thought, not sure how i'd change gear though with a seat there! but the rear seat, inertia reel front side sounds like a good option well worth looking into! thanks for that!
I prefer a nice ham salad sarnie, so i think i might spend the extra on a few nice bits for the s111!

so its a forward facing seat in the middle i was thinkin a rear facing sprog seat! there shud only b one to worry about so.... looks like i'm shoppin for a rear front facing seat and some seat belts, exmoor trim seem to do a decent seat but a tad expensive, not sure i trust second hand seats too much tho!
