My 2.25 diesel mokes excessively from the breather pipe the smokes a light grey in colour and seems t be worse when idling .I've replaced pump, injectors and dizzy.I've no smoke from tail pipe only on first start up and under hard accelerating and thats black.
thanks:confused:

Same thing as my one, was told it was worn piston rings......

Removed breather pipe and it looked like a steam train, place hand over air filter inlet pipe and smoking stops.....

Anyway removed head and found a blown head gasket, this was blowing into one of the tappet push rod chamber...

Have decided to replace rings after checking bores were in spec, will regind valves in, new head gasket and will see how that goes, if this fails then a replacement lump or rebore will be on the cards.....

Watch this space,,

IF it using more than .5 litre of oil between oil changes, and there is no oil leaks ,then it sounds like you need to do some major work to it.

Quick update, valves are shagged as well, seats in the head seem fine, clean and smooth, valves are rough as anything......

Bugger it, new set of inlet/exhaust valves on order.....

Do all Land Rovers eat money?????

Engine has covered about 6000 miles since recon,no oil being used between changes and smoke only appears once engine has heated up ,nothing from breather pipe while engine cold.Think heads gonna have to come off.
